ADR ADR rules for loading and unloading

AADR stands for 'Accord européen relatif au transport international de marchandises Dangereuses par Route’. The ADR is the pan-European treaty for the international road transport of dangerous goods.

The ADR is created under the umbrella of the United Nations. The ADR includes requirements on:

  • criteria for hazard classification of dangerous goods
  • conditions of carriage
  • requirements for packaging and tanks
  • procedures for shipping, including labelling and

Transport

The ADR is implemented in Dutch legislation through the Dangerous Substances Transport Act (WVGS) and the Regulation on the overland transport of dangerous substances (VLG). The VLG also contains a number of specific national rules, such as the routing (the designation of roads on which dangerous substances may be transported).
